"Expertise, Experience, and Effectiveness."

Sacramento attorney Mark S. Mayfield has been representing juveniles in Sacramento, El Dorado, Placer, Amador, San Joaquin, and Alameda counties since 1994. His practice is entirely Juvenile law related, be it Delinquency Court, Dependency Court or Probate Guardianship Court. He has never worked as a prosecutor, and is focused on representing juvenile clients and has been doing so for over twenty years. Mark attends specialized juvenile law training and seminars each year. The California State Bar has extablished that attorneys who are appointed to represent juveniles must meet several criteria including yearly training and expertise with the ever changing law. The Superior Court in Sacramento appoints Mr. Mayfield to act as Guardian ad Litem in Juvenile Dependency cases where a family member is not competent.

Both before and during his legal career, Mark taught at elementary, middle school, high school and college levels, utilyzing both his Master's Degree in United States History from California State University Long Beach and his Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of the Pacific. This teaching background also helps him to connect with young people better than lawyers who can only speak "legalese." Children's eyes glaze over when they hear words like "arraignment" and "competency." And, having raised children himself (including children with ADD, ADHD & Aspergers) Mark has first-hand experience with how difficult it can be to assist children with "issues." In fact, whatever your child's "issue" is, chances are Mr. Mayfield has experience understanding and working with it.

Our office can advise you on all aspects of your child's legal matter. Whatever crime your child is charged with we will insist that he or she is treated fairly. If the case is not immediately dismissed, we will pursue every opportunity to remove any blemishes from their record through record seals, charge reductions, and early termination of probation. The State Bar of California discourages attorneys from listing individual case results, but for over 20 years Mark has obtained excellent resolutions in a wide variety of cases, including juvenile crimes, adoptions, guardianships, conservatorships, probate and living trusts. Our main office is conveniently located near the Juvenile Courthouse in Sacramento. Please do not hesitate to call (916) 761-3043 for a consultation.
